Accommodation is available in 5 semi self-catering rooms.
There are 2 semi self-catering rooms that each have a separate entrance, queen-size bed and a en-suite bathroom with a bath and shower. The rooms also have a beautiful view of the bush and a bird feeder and is close to the boma area.
The other 2 semi self-catering rooms each have a separate entrance, twin beds and an en-suite bathrooms with a shower.
The fifth semi self-catering room has a double bed and en-suite bathroom with a shower.
The rooms are very private.
There are walking trails for those who like to take an early morning or afternoon stroll. There are also a boma area where guests can have a braai (BBQ) and use the lapa facilities. The unit was neat and clean and I had a wonderful stay.
The accommodation and facilities were superb. The neighbor unfortunately smoked timely and untimely which was bad. However, it is beyond the control of the accommodation.
We had a great stay, close to Potch but still in the bush.

The owners and manager of Thorntree Lodge were extremely friendly and very accommodating to our needs. The nature of our visit made our stay very unpredictable, but nothing was too inconvenient or too much trouble for Thorntree Lodge and they accommodated us in everything. The dirt road is not well maintained and most vehicles would not be able to handle it.
We had a great stay, our car is just very low, so the dirt road was not ideal. Especially if you have to drive in and out. I suggest the dirt road is scraped a bit and renovated then a lot more people will book there.
The room was neat and clean, with enough towels and a welcome chocolate on the bed. There is a kettle and coffee-making table in the room, and there were also biscuits left for us later in the afternoon. However, the common kitchen and dining room were dirty, untidy and full of cigarette butts. To use the microwave you have to brave the smell of smoke. Unfortunately, it overshadows the peace and quiet of an overnight stay where we could even watch 2 wild rabbits from our porch and the enjoyment we had of seeing and hearing all the birds in the thorn trees. With the dirt roads and all the rain we were glad we went with a 4x4.
Very conveniently close to town, but still in a farm atmosphere.
The room is tastefully furnished. Bathroom spacious with ample towels. Coffee facilities with rusks were wonderful. Kitchen spacious with lots of place to socialise. Couldn't find any fault. Ten out of ten.
Lovely place, very neat and clean, delicious braai area. No barking dogs or road noise, could sleep wonderfully after a long day on the road. If I'm in the area again, this is the place I book.

My family and I were pleasantly surprised with Thorntree Lodge. The rooms were spacious and comfortable and the braai and kitchen facilities were clean and sufficient for preparing an enjoyable dinner and breakfast. Directions to lodge were not sufficient. Only one indication on farm road. Remote control of security gates did not work. Room was very neat and clean.
The location of this place cannot be beat. Quiet in the countryside, but only a few km from the university. The lodge is still very new, so there are still a few bits of maintenance that need to be addressed. I believe it will happen quickly. You have to go through 3 security gates to get out. I was not aware of that and the code to enter was not provided to me. This made it quite awkward, so make sure you get the code for the gates before you get there. It is a dirt road for the last km to the lodge. I drive a Golf VI and have rubbed the middle man in more than one place. I suggest you go with a vehicle that has slightly more ride height than a Golf. The rooms are very neat, clean and nicely furnished. There is a shared kitchen and barbecue area. It has everything one needs. There is also a fridge with a larger freezer section in the kitchen. The outer decor in the little garden is not going to be everyone's "cup of tea", but it is probably the lodge's choice.
Not wheelchair friendly. Would love to have a chair in the apartment.

Wonderful overnight spot. Access was a bit difficult because it is on a farm, especially for a female. But is nice and peaceful and safe.

Upon my arrival I was promptly helped even though it was after hours. We immediately felt welcome. If I may suggest something, I would have liked it if the room had been equipped with a television. Of course, some people prefer the silence too. Other than that I have no other problems and I enjoyed the overnight stay.
Upon my arrival I was told that my room was still dirty, and that I could choose another room (the previous person had already checked out the day before, so there was plenty of time to fix it). There was no room with a double bed available. When I spoke to the managers later, her words were "We usually give the single bed rooms to single people", despite the fact that I had booked a double bed, and made it clear from her attitude that my problem was not her concern. The rooms are very small, and although there is a small table, there are no chairs. So the only option is to sit on the bed and work. There is no top sheet on the beds, and only a very thin duvet. There are blankets in the closet, but the little room was freezing cold when I was there, and it was a very cold night. The place is quite far out of town. Positive points; they give a box of real milk for coffee and a bottle of biscuits. The shower has a decent shower head that casts a nice wide jet. Overall I was very disappointed, and will definitely not stay there again. Thorntree Lodge would probably be better classified as a "backpackers", and certainly not suitable if you expect any comfort after a long day to make your stay a little more homely.
Thorntree Lodge is located in a small paradise, just outside town. The bushveld atmosphere was magical and far away from the city's hustle and bustle. The room is clean and ideal for someone looking for a nice stopover. The host and his wife is friendly and walked the extra myle to make sure everything is right and comfortable. Thank you for a lovely getaway in the bushes.

We were six friends for a men's weekend getaway. We were looking for a place where we could hang out privately as old friends, watch rugby and relax - away from the hustle and bustle of the city - somewhere in the countryside. Aunt Rina and Uncle Philip were very hospitable. The rooms were very nice and tidy. The kitchen was fully equipped, and the boma fire was burning all the time. The goats also give a pleasant tranquility to the welcome atmosphere. We went with the idea of holding our annual men's weekend there; and left the lodge with the thought of making men's weekend at Thorntree an annual institution!
We had a very welcoming experience and comfortable stay. Facilities was great and the peacefulness surrounding with springbuck and blesbuck walking around was great. Feels almost like being in the bushveld.

Rooms are neat and equipped with everything you need. There is even a large shared kitchen where you can prepare your food and a fire place if you would like to barbecue. If you are looking for a place to just get lost in nature, this is the right place for you. Although it is 3 km outside the town it was not a problem for us as we preferred not to be in the noisy town.
It is the most amazing, peaceful and private place. The hospitality we experienced was indescribable. The owners Rina and Philip are the nicest people and I would recommend anyone to stay at Thorntree overnight or just for a few days. Thorntree will definitely see us again soon.
